Metropistas, the Abertis Foundation and the University of Puerto Rico award two prizes in the master's and doctorate categories to students from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico.

The event, conducted by the Abertis Foundation's president, Elena Salgado, was a key meeting point for leaders, experts and professionals committed to road safety and mobility, like the Director-General for Traffic, Pere Navarro, as well as some of the partners and institutions that have supported the Foundation's work over the years, such as UNICEF Spain and the Polytechnic University of Madrid through the Abertis Chairs programme. 

The International Network of Abertis Chairs has already awarded this year the best research works in Spain, France, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Puerto Rico and Italy, whose national awards as well as the international distinction were presented today in the Italian city of Padua.

The Abertis Chair Awards promote the connection between universities and business and strengthen comprehensive training in mobility management, transport, research, innovation and development in the field of planning and operation of transport systems with a view to social, economic and environmental sustainability.

La actividad se enfoca en el desarrollo de conocimientos en las áreas de infraestructura de transporte y seguridad vial, y contó con la participación de representantes de Abertis, COPSA y los ministerios de Obras Públicas y Transportes.

Egresados de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Mayagüez reciben premio en la décima edición de este reconocimiento.

La Cátedra Abertis ha hecho entrega de su XI Premio Internacional de Gestión de Infraestructuras y Seguridad Vial a los mejores trabajos de investigación universitaria entre los países miembros de la Red Internacional de las cátedras, y al mejor trabajo local de Puerto Rico. Estas distinciones identifican los mejores trabajos de investigación presentados por estudiantes de máster y doctorado de distintas universidades de España, Francia, Italia, Brasil, Chile, México y Puerto Rico. Entre los ganadores de cada país, se selecciona a los ganadores internacionales en una ceremonia que cada año se celebra en un país distinto y que en esta edición ha tenido lugar en Puerto Rico.
