The Abertis Chair network awards the 2nd International Abertis Prize for Infrastructure Research


The 2nd International Abertis Prize in Infrastructure Management was presented today in Paris. The prize is awarded annually by the Abertis Chair network and honours the best pieces of work selected from the finalists of the prize’s national editions in Spain and France. In the doctoral thesis category, the prize was awarded jointly to Ana María Pérez and Aude Hofleitner, for their work related to the study of traffic.

On 16 May, Ana María Pérez was awarded the 10th Abertis Prize by the UPC-Abertis Chair, for her thesis regarding the modelling of operating speed on roads. The work of Aude Hofleitner, winner of the 2nd Abertis Prize from IFSTTAR –associated with the École de Ponts de París– concerns the development of a model for estimating urban traffic based on geolocation technology.

The International Prize in the dissertation category was awarded to Hèctor Fornés Martínez for his work on the optimisation of luggage check-in counters in airports, having been awarded the UPC-Abertis Chair prize in the same category.

The Ambassador, Carlos Bastarreche; the CEO of Abertis, Francisco Reynés; the director general of Sanef, François Gauthey; the director of the Abertis Chair in France, Simon Cohen, and the director of the Abertis foundation, Sergi Loughney all participated in the awards ceremony, which was held at the headquarters of the Spanish Embassy in Paris, France.
